Product Overview

What Are Stainless Steel Clamps?

A stainless steel clamp is a band, ring, or bolted strap that holds a hose, pipe, or flanged joint together by squeezing it. A T-bolt clamp tightens around a hose, while a V-band clamp pulls two matching flanges together. A tri-clamp holds a gasketed ferrule joint that opens for cleaning.

Stainless steel is chosen where salt, washdown water, or heat would corrode a zinc-plated clamp. The grade and the clamp type both depend on the connection.

Types of Stainless Steel Clamps

The clamp type depends on what it joins. Choose a T-bolt, worm gear, or spring clamp for a hose over a spigot, and a V-band clamp for a flanged exhaust or pipe joint. A tri-clamp suits a ferrule joint that must open for cleaning. We make each type to your drawing or sample.

Stainless steel T-bolt clamps

Wide Band Made to Drawing

A T-bolt clamp has a wide band and a bolt with a bridge, so it spreads the clamping load around the hose. We machine the T-bolt, bridge, and nut to your drawing. A T-bolt clamp suits turbo, charge-air, and coolant connections on modified cars, racing cars, and UTVs.

Machined V-Flanges Made to Drawing

A V-band clamp pulls two matching flanges together, so the flange profile and diameter must match the clamp. We machine V-flanges from stainless bar to your drawing. A V-band clamp suits turbo outlets, downpipes, and other exhaust joints that must come apart for service.

Constant Tension Cooling Hoses

A spring clamp holds its tension by spring force. For that reason it follows the hose as the hose expands and contracts with temperature. Fitted with spring clamp pliers, it installs quickly on automotive cooling system hoses. For a quote, send the hose size or a sample.

Stainless steel quick release clamps

Stainless Steel Quick Release Clamps

Tool-Free Easy to Clean

A quick release clamp opens and closes without tools. A joint can therefore be taken apart and put back together in seconds. Because it is easy to clean and maintain, it suits racing cars, laboratories, and food processing areas. Send the ferrule or hose size and the gasket type.

Custom stainless steel clamps

Brackets Saddles Straps

A custom clamp covers the joints a catalogue clamp does not fit, such as a special flange, a saddle, or a strap with a bracket. Send a drawing or a sample to find out whether we can match it. A custom clamp suits machine builders and maintenance teams replacing an obsolete clamp.

Material Specification

Choosing the Right Grade

The grade you choose depends on the water, the salt, and the cleaning chemistry around the clamp.

304 Stainless

304 stainless steel clamps suit indoor machinery, automation, and dry or mildly humid areas. They cost less than 316L. However, 304 is not the right choice for continuous salt spray or chloride-heavy washdown.

Indoor and Dry Service

316 / 316L Stainless

316 and 316L stainless steel clamps are made from steel with 2 to 3 percent molybdenum, which gives better chloride pitting resistance than 304. We recommend them for marine engine rooms, outdoor exposure, and process lines cleaned with chloride-based chemicals. Other stainless grades are available on request.

Marine and Chloride Service

Polishing, passivation, and electropolishing are available when the joint needs a cleaner or smoother surface.

Applications

Diverse Applications of Stainless Steel Clamps

Stainless steel clamps are chosen where zinc-plated clamps would corrode or where a joint must come apart for service. Each use below names the joint and the clamp type that sits there.

Made-to-Fit Stainless Steel Clamps

Catalogue clamps cover standard hose and pipe sizes. A custom diameter, a special band width, or an unusual flange profile needs a clamp made for it. We make stainless steel clamps to the size of your hose, flange, or ferrule.

That also covers replacements. If a clamp is obsolete or no longer sold, send the old one as a sample and we will match it.

  • Custom diameters and band widths
  • V-flange profiles to your drawing
  • T-bolt, bridge, and nut sizes to your drawing
  • Ferrule sizes for tri-clamps
  • Replacement clamps matched from a sample

Sealed Joints with Stainless Steel Clamps

A clamp does not seal a joint by itself. The seal also depends on the hose, the flange, and the gasket the clamp holds. A V-band clamp pulls two matching flanges onto a gasket. A T-bolt clamp squeezes a hose evenly around its circumference.

We machine the V-flange and the clamp hardware to the same drawing, so they fit each other.

  • V-band: the flange profile and diameter must match the clamp
  • T-bolt: the band width and the installed hose diameter set the clamping load
  • Tri-clamp: the ferrule size and the gasket type set the seal
  • Send a drawing, a sample, or a photo of the joint for us to confirm the clamp style

Why Profab

Your Reliable Stainless Steel Clamps Supplier

01

Hardware Machined to Your Drawing

We CNC machine the T-bolts, bridges, nuts, and V-flanges for your stainless steel clamps ourselves, so you deal directly with the factory. The dimensions also follow your hose or flange.

02

One Grade Across the Whole Clamp

Before we cut any metal, we check your salt, washdown, or heat exposure and confirm 304 or 316L. We also ask that the band, bolt, bridge, and nut share one grade. That way no single piece corrodes ahead of the others.

03

Joint Review Before Quoting

After you send a drawing, a sample, or a photo of the joint, our engineers check the flange profile, the gasket, and the hose size before quoting. Samples are typically ready in about 20 days.

How to Specify Stainless Steel Clamps

Go through these points before you request a quote. Send us whatever you already know about each one.

FactorWhat to ConfirmWhy It Matters
ConnectionA hose over a spigot, a flanged exhaust or pipe joint, or a ferrule jointThe connection decides between a T-bolt, V-band, or tri-clamp.
Installed diameterThe outside diameter of the hose over the fitting, or the flange outside diameterThe clamp must close around the installed size, not the free hose size.
Band or flangeBand width, V-flange profile, or ferrule sizeA V-band clamp must match the flange profile.
HardwareBolt, nut, bridge, and gasket typeThe hardware and the gasket are part of the joint.
Grade304 or 316L, and any other grade you needThe salt, washdown water, and cleaning chemistry set the grade.
FinishAs machined, polished, passivated, or electropolishedA cleaner surface may be needed on process lines.
Quantity and sampleDrawing or sample, quantity, prototype or productionWe confirm the clamp style from a drawing or sample before quoting.

More Questions
Which stainless steel clamp suits my connection?

The joint decides the type. Use a T-bolt, worm gear, or spring clamp for a hose over a spigot, and a V-band clamp for a flanged exhaust or pipe joint. Use a tri-clamp for a ferrule joint that opens for cleaning. If you are unsure, send a photo or drawing of the joint for us to confirm the style.

What is the difference between a stainless steel V-band clamp and a hose clamp?

A hose clamp squeezes a flexible hose onto a spigot. A V-band clamp, by contrast, pulls two matching flanges together onto a gasket. A V-band clamp therefore has to match the flange profile and diameter, not only the pipe size.

Can stainless steel clamps be used in a seawater environment?

Yes, if the grade is 316 or 316L, because its molybdenum gives better chloride resistance than 304. Use 316L for the band, the bolt, and the nut too, since a lower-grade piece would corrode first.

What is the difference between a stainless steel worm gear clamp and a T-bolt clamp?

A worm gear clamp tightens a band with a screw. It suits low-pressure hoses. A T-bolt clamp, by contrast, has a wide band with a bolt and a bridge. This design spreads the clamping load around the hose. It therefore suits charge-air and coolant connections.

What should I send to quote a custom stainless steel clamp?

Send a drawing or sample. Otherwise, list the clamp type, the hose or pipe diameter, the flange or ferrule type, the grade, and the quantity. We accept DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, and PDF drawings with dimensions.
