Applications

Profab Machine machines stainless steel rod ends, ball joints and spherical bearings for automotive, marine, food and industrial equipment builders. Every joint starts from your drawing or sample, in 304, 316L or 17-4PH, with threads from M5 to M48. Since 2005, we have supplied linkages for seeders, filling lines, yachts, hydraulic cylinders and position sensors. Our joints run where ordinary steel fails, in salt spray, hot CIP washdown, fertilizer dust and exhaust heat. You get a joint rated for the environment it actually works in, machined to your spec, at factory-direct pricing.

Rod Ends That Stack Egg Flats Without Cracking a Single One

rod ends in egg bailing machine

Profab Machine supplies the stainless steel rod ends at the pivot points of egg baling machines, from the baling arm to the metering gates. These joints keep every egg flat level through 24/7 operation, vibration and daily washdown.

How a Baling Arm Keeps Every Flat Level

An egg baling machine picks up egg flats with suction heads and stacks them into shipping bales. The baling arm rides on a parallel linkage, and rod ends sit at every pivot. The linkage keeps each head level while the stack grows, so flats settle square instead of tilting. Clamping cylinders then press the stack into shape. Misalignment at either point means cracked eggs, so the joints take the lateral forces and protect the cylinder rods and seals.

  • Rod ends at the linkage pivots — the joints swing thousands of times per shift. We fit PTFE liner joints here. They run dry, so no grease collects dust or reaches food surfaces.
  • Rod ends at the clamping cylinders — the clamp loads the joint. Unlined metal to metal joints carry that force and keep the stack square.

Rotation Cylinders, Clamps and Metering Gates

  • Rotation mechanisms — joints in the rotation cylinders and pivot arms turn finished bales 90 or 180 degrees without shifting the gripper.
  • Metering gates — rod ends at the gates keep feeding timing exact. No lash means no double feeds and no jams at the baling chamber.

Washdown Corrosion on Egg Lines

  • Lubrication options — dry PTFE liner joints for the pivots, greasable metal to metal joints for the clamp.
  • Corrosion resistance — 304 housing as standard. 316L for daily caustic washdown. (For chlorine sanitizers, thorough rinsing prevents pitting on 316L).
  • Stainless throughout — housing, ball and shank all in stainless. No plating flakes near food contact surfaces.

Speeds and Stack Patterns Dictate the Joint

Every egg line runs its own speeds and stack patterns. Send us the arm geometry and the cylinder loads, and we size the joints to match. We ship with material certs. Every case starts with a real mechanical challenge. Talk to Profab Machine to begin your project.

Common type

Rod ends for egg baling machines: JMX / JFX series for linkage pivots and metering gates, CM / CF series for clamping cylinders. Sizes M61.0 to M121.75 are the usual range.
