Fire, Flood, and Fortune

In December 2023, Profab received an order for 800 sets of non-standard stainless steel pump housings from Lucas Carvalho in São Paulo, Brazil. 300 pieces of finished products and some raw materials were destroyed when a pipe burst in the warehouse and caused a flood on 12 December. With the rainy season and high air freight costs, production delays seemed unavoidable, but Profab quickly teamed up with a local CNC machine shop to share the drawings and half of the production under our QC supervision, while air freighting the 200 critical parts Lucas desperately needed. In the end, all 800 pump housings were delivered on time on 5 January 2024, with Lucas praising: “Even the flooding couldn’t stop you, you’re more reliable than my suppliers in Brazil!
